In 1953, a ‘novelty’ match took place featuring a Blackstone team in Ipswich. It seems there was a push to kick-start a competition. The reporter’s enthusiasm is clear, even if they didn’t check all their facts!

We suspect that the Brisbane Junior Soccer Association may have begun to support a women’s competition in 1959. We haven’t as yet been able to confirm this and would love to learn more about Frank Clarke who was a great supporter of women’s football.
