Gold Coast Women Continue to Succeed Internationally

Referee, Kate Jacewicz, grew up playing football on the Gold Coast. In 2019, she was named the Westfield W-League Referee of the Year for the 8th time. She also refereed two matches at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Soon after, she became the first female referee to be appointed to the Hyundai A-League Referees Panel.

Elise Kellond-Knight grew up on the Gold Coast playing for the Runaway Bay Hawks. 2019 marked her third World Cup appearance at a FIFA Women's World Cup (having also played in 2011 and 2015). After playing for Melbourne City, she has recently rejoined the Roar in Brisbane.

Currently Football Gold Coast is responsible for the governance of football throughout the Gold Coast region. Current clubs which field women's teams can be found on through Football Gold Coast.

We've spoken to Nerang Eagles and Musgrave Hill but there is still so much to learn. Contact us if you'd like to help us expand this living history of women's football.
